TraitMatch Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how TraitMatch (“TraitMatch”, “we”, “us”) uses cookies and similar technologies on our websites and in our mobile app. For personal data generally, see the Privacy Policy: https://traitmatch.pages.dev/privacy.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small files stored on your browser or device. Similar technologies include local storage and mobile SDKs. For simplicity, this Policy calls all of them “cookies”.
2. What we use today
Website (https://traitmatch.pages.dev):
• Essential local storage only — theme preference (`tm-theme`) and cookie-consent choice (`tm-cookie-consent`). We do not load third-party analytics or advertising scripts unless you consent and we enable them later.
• Fonts may be loaded from Google Fonts (network request for typography). That is treated as necessary for the site’s presentation; we do not use it for advertising profiles.
Mobile app:
• Essential — encrypted auth/session storage, security, feature preferences, push tokens (Firebase Cloud Messaging) needed to deliver notifications you enable
• Consent prefs — stored in app preferences (`traitmatch_consent` / `cookie_consent_v1`) for analytics and marketing categories
• We do not currently ship Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, or advertising SDKs. If we add them later, they will remain off until you Accept analytics and/or marketing in the in-app consent bar (Settings → Cookie preferences).
3. Categories (for consent)
• Essential — always on; required for login, security, and basic preferences
• Analytics — optional; usage/reliability measurement when enabled
• Marketing — optional; campaign measurement or marketing SDKs when enabled (separate from product push notifications)
4. Legal basis
Essential technologies: contract necessity / legitimate interests for a secure Service. Non-essential analytics/marketing: consent (EEA/UK and where required). You may withdraw anytime.
5. How to control
• Website — cookie banner: Accept all / Reject non-essential / Customize
• App — consent bar and Settings → manage cookie preferences
• Marketing push — Settings → Notifications (defaults off; independent of cookie “marketing”)
• Browser — clear site data (may reset theme and consent)
6. Changes
We update this Policy when technologies change. Version and effective date above will change.
